The Metropolitan City of Rome Capital represents a territorial body of vast area, which pursues the following general institutional aims
The territory of the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital shall coincide with that of the Province of the same name, without prejudice to the initiative of the Municipalities, including the capital Municipalities of the neighbouring Provinces, in accordance with Article 133, first paragraph, of the Constitution, for the modification of the neighbouring provincial boundaries and for joining the Metropolitan City.
